The Mid-Prairie girls golf team opened the 2016 season Monday night hosting the West Branch Bears at the Kalona Golf Course.
The two teams were tied at 222 after tallying the top four scorers for each team so the dual was decided on a card back to the fifth best score. West Branch won the tiebreaker 58-72. The Golden Hawks were led in the match by Allyson Wertz, the senior took medalist honors with her round of 45. Other scores for the Hawks included Olivia Nisly with a 57, Paige Slabaugh with a 58, Lindsey Palmer at 62, Abby Statler with a 72 and Kenzi Bontrager at 79. Mid-Prairie will next be in action Monday when they travel to Wilton.
