Taking third place in a pair of hurdles competitions Thursday, juniors Caleb Bex and Jessie Buchholz had to wait to see if their times were good enough to qualify for next week’s Iowa Boys and Girls State Track Meet in Des Moines.The Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released their list of qualifiers Friday afternoon and both third year high school students were among the ones who made the cut.

Bex’s time in the 110 meter hurdles was clocked at 15.67 seconds, placing him 18th in Class 3A. He will run in the preliminary race of the event at 9:40 a.m. Friday.

Buchholz was the last person to make the Class 3A 100 meter hurdles competition, posting a time of 15.43 seconds. She takes part in the preliminary race of the event at 10 a.m. Thursday.
