The Mid-Prairie boys golf team hosted a class 2A sectional Thursday at the Kalona golf course.

Area school Columbus also participated at the meet. In order to advance to districts in class 2A a team must finish as sectional champion or runner up in the eight team field. The top two individuals from non qualifying teams also moved on. Wilton took the sectional title with their 342, Durant qualified for districts as a runner up with their 353 team score. Individual qualifiers from the event included Charles Jahn from Mediapolis with his medalist round of 70, Lane Koenig of Durant as medalist runner up with an 80, Jake Fratzke of Wilton with an 81 and Nolan Leaton of Wilton with an 82.

The Golden Hawks finished fourth as a team with their score of 366. Mid-Prairie was led by Collin Gingerich with an 83. Other scores for the Hawks included Zach Owens with a 90, Ryan Slaubaugh at 96, Michael Callahan at 97, Duncan McCain with a 98 and Seth Mann at 109.

Columbus finished seventh in the eight team field with their score of 426. The Wildcats were led by John Rees with his 99. Other scores for Columbus included Tommy Pretz with a 102, Dalton Bright with a 104, Erik Rees at 121 and Brodrick Wittman with a 123.

The qualifying teams from last week’s event will play their district meet at Pleasant Valley near Iowa City on Thursday.
