The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday night in the second round of district play falling to No. 1 in class 2A Wilton on the road 10-2.
In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, the Beavers got out to a quick start, scoring three times each in the first and second innings to build a 6-0 lead. Mid-Prairie got on the board in the third when Adam Schrock singled to center to drive in Peyton Miller and Eli Steckly to get Mid-Prairie within 6-2. The Beavers would answer with three more runs in the fourth inning to go up 9-2 and a single tally in the sixth. Javin Drake got the win for Wilton, he went all seven innings and struck out 13 Golden Hawk batters. Schrock took the loss for the Golden Hawks on the mound, he went an inning and two thirds, gave up seven hits, six runs, walked one and struck out two. At the plate Schrock was one for three with a pair of RBI.
The Golden Hawks end their season at 13-19. Wilton advances to face Iowa City Regina Saturday at Wilton for the district championship.
