In a matchup of KCII area teams it was the Lone Tree Lions defeated the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves on Tuesday night at Highland by a 5-3 score.
Pitching dominated the game early, leaving the contest in a scoreless tie entering the fifth. The Lions broke through with three runs in the frame to take their first lead, they extended that advantage to 5-0 with two more runs in the sixth. The Wolves would rally late, pushing across three runs in the sixth but fell short. Dawson Swailes was two for four at the plate with an RBI to lead the Lions. With the win Lone Tree improves to 11-12 on the year, the Wolves end their season at 6-15. Seniors Levi Watson-Hewitt, Kolt Rossiter, Ross Vantiger, Tyler Reiman, Darren Hunter, Matthew Niebuhr, Max Houston and Garret Baker finished their WMU athletic careers in the loss.
