At their most recent school board meeting, the Highland School District dealt with several changes in school personnel. Superintendent Chris Armstrong said one of the positions filled was for the activities director, and they decided to split that position between Jody Fink, who presently teaches middle school social studies, physical education, and is head girls basketball coach, and Joe Donovan, who is the high school P.E. teacher and head football coach. Additionally, Armstrong said they wanted to make sure they had an appropriate number of assistant coaches, and they agreed to retain volleyball, wrestling, cross country, and football assistants.
As far as the resignations, he said there was an elementary teacher and a title one teacher who resigned, and those positions will both be filled by internal candidates. There was also a middle school special education teacher who resigned, but they felt the current staff can handle the responsibilities, so the position won’t be filled. Finally, there was a basketball cheer sponsor who decided not to continue. All total, Armstrong said they had four resignations, 10 appointments, and seven modifications to their existing faculty and staff.
