With Fall approaching, it’s time for people to start thinking about getting their annual influenza vaccinations. Nurse Lynn Fisher of Washington County Public Health says flu season typically starts in February, and you need at least a couple weeks to allow the vaccine to give you the proper immunity, so their policy is to start administering flu shots as soon as they arrive. Fisher said there are many places a person can get a flu shot, including Wal-Mart, Hy-Vee, Beans Pharmacy, or at Washington County Public Health. Where you get it doesn’t particularly matter, it’s more important that it gets done. She added, the increase in locations where flu shots can be administered is good because it provides people the convenience to get them when it fits their schedule.
