The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team had a dominant defense during the 2015 season.

The Golden Hawks are coming off of a year that saw them finish with the sixth best scoring defense in all of class 2A, allowing just 13 points per game. The Golden Hawks were also ninth in the state, forcing 19 turnovers on the year.

Mid-Prairie graduated four all-district selections from the defensive side of the ball including linebackers Karson Duwa, Cameron Tolander, Nolan Faselt and defensive back Paul Hawbaker. Tolander, Faselt, Duwa and Hawbaker represented four of the top five tacklers on last year’s team, totaling 210 stops between them.

Mid-Prairie does return second leading tackler, sack leader and first team all-district defensive end Levi Duwa. The Hawks also return Jason Tew, Keaton Duwa, Jared Miller and others who saw some time on that side of the ball a year ago.

Mid-Prairie opens the season this Friday night at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman against Louisa-Muscatine. We will have all of the action for you live on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6:30 and kickoff at 7PM.
