The Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams make the trip to Pella tonight for the class 2A state qualifier meet to try to punch their ticket to the state meet in Fort Dodge.
The Mid-Prairie boys enter this week ranked No. 3 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Track Coaches Association. Last time out they won their first conference title in school history at the River Valley Conference Championship meet in Iowa City last week. Joining the Mid-Prairie boys in Pella today is Albia, Applington-Parkersburg, Centerville, Central Lee, No. 16 Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, Davis County, No. 12 Dike-New Hartford, No. 10 East Marshall, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Grundy Center, Prairie City Monroe, Pella Christian, Van Buren and West Marshall.
The field contains seven ranked runners, three of those from the Golden Hawks. In the latest individual rankings Petyon Miller is 10th, Zach Pettit is 11th and Floyd Evans is 14th.
The Mid-Prairie girls enter this week ranked No. 4 in class 2A. Last time out they finished as team runners up at the RVC Championship meet last week. Anna Hostetler captured the individual conference title with Marie Hostetler finishing as runner-up. Joining the Mid-Prairie girls today in Pella is Albia, Applington-Parkersburg, Centerville, Central Lee, No. 5 Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, Davis County, Dike-New Hartford, East Marshall, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Grundy Center, No. 15 Prairie City Monroe, Van Buren and West Marshall.

The top three teams, plus the first 15 individual place winners qualify for the state meet in Fort Dodge. Action begins at 3PM and continues into the evening in Pella.
