Do you know the rules for operating a drone, should you receive one for Christmas? There are regulations in place for safety and privacy that each operator should know before taking a drone out for a flight. Tim McClung with the Iowa Department of Transportation says, “There are some rules to the road, and basically those are to always stay below 400 feet and within visual line of sight of the aircraft.” He also says it’s very important to stay away from airports, don’t fly over groups of people or emergency responders, and never fly under the influence of alcohol.
He adds it’s also important to register your unmanned aircraft if it weighs more than 0.55 pounds and it’s the operator’s responsibility to do so. For more information click here.
