The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams are on the road Tuesday to wrap up the pre-Christmas schedule when they travel to West Branch.

The Golden Hawk girls are 4-3 on the year and have won three straight. In their last game they knocked off Durant in Wellman 45-32. Addie Rath led the Golden Hawks with 17 points, Ali Butters added 11. Rath and Butters lead Mid-Prairie at 11 points per game this season. Rath has the team lead and is third in the River Valley Conference with 29 assists. Ireland Hostetler leads the Golden Hawks on the glass and is 10th in the conference with 53 rebounds.

West Branch enters tonight with an overall record of 5-3. The Bears lost to Iowa City Regina Friday 70-50. They were led by Haley Mullinex with 17 points, Tatum Koenig added 13. On the season West Branch is led by Koenig at 19 points per game, second best in the RVC. Koenig’s 28 assists are best for the Bears and fourth best in the conference. Abby Knoop leads the Bears on the glass and is ninth in the conference with 54 boards.

These two teams met twice last year with the Bears sweeping the series, winning 69-40 at West Branch and 53-49 in Wellman.

The Mid-Prairie boys come into today with an overall record of 2-4. They were edged by Durant in Wellman Saturday 53-48. Tom Butters led the way with a double double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Brad Tornow also added 13 points. On the year Mid-Prairie is led by Derek Rich at 10 points per game. Brad Tornow leads the Hawks and is eighth in the conference with 15 assists while Caleb Statler leads the Hawks on the glass with 31 rebounds.

West Branch comes into tonight with an overall record of 4-4 overall. In their last game they lost to Camanche 78-67. Beau Cornwell led the way with 29 points, Cooper Kabela added 19. On the year the Bears are led by Kabela, who is conference’s leading scorer at 24 points per game. He’s also the leading rebounder in the conference with 68 on the year. Beau Cornwell is best on the Bears and second in the conference with 28 assists.

These two teams met twice a year ago with the Bears sweeping the series, winning 73-44 in West Branch and 58-46 in Wellman.
