The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams made the trip to Durant Saturday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Wildcats.

In a set of games heard on AM and FM KCII, Mid-Prairie took the girls contest 52-44. Mid-Prairie led 14-12 after one quarter and 25-18 at the half. The Golden Hawks took control of the game with 14-0 run out of the locker room to balloon the lead to 21. Durant would get as close as eight down the stretch. Ali Butters led Mid-Prairie with 17 points. Addie Rath had 13 and Ireland Hostetler 10. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 13-5 on the year.

The Golden Hawk boys fell to Durant 55-53. Mid-Prairie started the game on a 6-1 run and led 13-7 after one quarter. The Hawks also held a 23-18 lead at the half. In the second half, Mid-Prairie used an 8-0 to stretch the lead to as many as 11. Durant answered with back to back threes and continued to chip away in the fourth. Mid-Prairie made some costly mistakes down the stretch including turnovers and a technical foul, giving Durant the opening they needed to complete the comeback. The Wildcats Luke Whitlock was fouled on a jump shot with under a second remaining with the game tied at 53. He went to the  line and calmly sank two free throws to supply the margin of victory. Mid-Prairie was led in the game by Dominick Pickard with nine points. With the loss, Mid-Prairie is now 5-14 on the year.
