Updrafts, anvils, wall clouds and more will be covered at the next round of storm spotter training courses across Iowa. The free classes teach attendees how to identify cloud shapes, as well as the difference between funnel clouds and tornadoes. Trained weather spotters are on staff at KCII. Washington and Keokuk Counties Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith recommends listening to KCII Radio when there is inclement weather in the area.
The classes are taught by meteorologists and will be held in Sigourney, Wapello and Coralville this year. For dates and exact locations look below.
And remember, any time there is a severe storm or tornado warning in Washington County, KCII will break into regular programming to bring you live coverage and up to the minute information.
