Applications for grants from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation spring grant cycle are now available. The deadline for grant applications for the Spring 2017 grant period is 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 5th. Last spring the organization awarded nearly $800,000 across 22 grants. The largest grant was $300,000 to the City of Kalona to help fund their new community center. The second-largest was a $100,000 grant to Mid-Prairie Community Schools for a culinary learning lab. Since the first grant distribution by the Foundation in 2006, over $38,500,000 has been awarded to nearly 1,100 grants.
