At the most recent Keota School Board meeting, the Eagles Advocates group discussed their current fundraising efforts for the project to improve the Keota High School commons area. Superintendent Dennis Phelps said their hope is to have all the funds needed for the project by the March school board meeting. Phelps explained, “We’re in the process of kind of looking those things over. Hopefully in March we’ll have some idea, so we can do the board approval of the project. And then we’ll go ahead and start the bid processing and go on.” The project would improve the area outside the auditorium, which is usually referred to as the commons area. Among the improvements would be replacing old lockers, improving the flooring, and purchasing new furniture. The Eagles Advocates is a group outside the school that works to raise money for school projects.
