A short pursuit ended in Washington Monday with two people arrested. At 11:13 a.m. a police officer called in a traffic stop to dispatch at South 10th and East Main Street, but the vehicle didn’t stop. The brief pursuit ended when the vehicle was stopped by another police officer at North 12th Avenue and East 7th Street, near the former Modine Manufacturing building.
Thirty-five-year-old Esau Rios of Washington was arrested for driving under suspension, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and assault on a peace officer. Also, 33-year-old Curtis A. Cousins of Washington was arrested for possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine and marijuana, third and subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men were taken to the Washington County Jail.
Washington Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s personnel assisted at the scene, the vehicle was towed.
