The No. 12 ranked Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team sprinted by Central Lee Wednesday night in Wellman in the class 3A regional semifinals of the postseason, winning 80-54.

Mid-Prairie started the game on a 15-2 run and never led by fewer than double digits the rest of the way. Up 22-8 after one quarter the Golden Hawks enjoyed a 37-25 lead at the half. The big offensive night continued for Mid-Prairie after the break, scoring 24 in the third quarter to stretch out their lead, it would grow as large as 29 in the second half. Mid-Prairie was led by Addie Rath and her career high 27 points.

Other top performers for Mid-Prairie included Ali Butters with 15 and Shae Becker and Ireland Hostetler with 10 each.

With the win Mid-Prairie is now 17-6 on the year and will play in the regional final Saturday at Williamsburg against No. 3 Center Point-Urbana. The winner of Saturday’s contest will advance to the 2017 girls state basketball tournament.
