Students who plan to attend college courses in the fall should be filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also called the FAFSA. The deadline for the FAFSA itself is June 30th, however many colleges have deadlines quickly approaching for applications and student aid. Tera Pickens, director of the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center recommends you apply to your top three colleges and now is the time to be looking at financial aid and scholarship opportunities. She adds the FAFSA can easily be done when you file your taxes, and the current online format is user friendly than the paper documents of yesteryear. The U.S. Department of Education recommends you check with the colleges you’re interested in attending for their application deadlines. Pickens recommends you contact your high school if you have questions or the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center.
