Mid-Prairie senior wrestler Visouth Peterschmidt will be on the mat for the final time in his career for the Golden Hawks today in the state wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Peterschmidt opened Friday’s action with a quarterfinal pinfall victory over Mason Carpenter of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in 3:36 during the afternoon session.

Peterschmidt returned to the mat in the evening session for a matchup with Ben Lee of Ballard in the semifinals. Lee put Peterschmidt in an early 5-0 hole and he could not recover, falling by a 13-4 major decision.

Peterschmidt is back in action today in the consolation round where he will face Nick Foss of Harlan. He defeated Foss in the opening match of the tournament by 6-4 decision on Thursday. KCII will have updates throughout Saturday with results from the state tournament in Des Moines.
