The No. 12 ranked Coe College softball team has come out firing to begin the 2017 season. The Kohawks stand at 13-1 on the year, winners of 11 in a row.
In their most recent action the Kohawks traveled to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida for the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic. In the tournament Coe has wins over Saint Joseph’s College 4-0, Emerson College 11-1, Simmons College 8-0, St. John Fisher 3-2, Worcester Polytechnic Institute 9-1 and Thiel College 7-2.
KCII area athletes have been in the middle of the action for the Kohawks.
Former Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Coe senior Mallory McArtor had five hits, four runs scored and drove in three during the tournament. On the year McArtor is hitting .319 with 15 total hits, 10 runs scored and nine driven in.
Former Highland Huskie and Coe senior Paige Wieland had four hits, five runs scored and drove in a pair during the tournament. On the year she is hitting .286 with 12 total hits, 10 runs scored and six driven in.
The Kohawks will next be in action March 22nd at Cornell in Mount Vernon.
