St. Patrick’s Day was Friday, but if you’re still planning to celebrate this weekend, do so safely. Last year during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, Iowa had zero traffic fatalities, but there were 458 crashes resulting in 756 injuries, 16 were serious. If you plan on going out and drinking this St. Patrick’s Day, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Police Department, Iowa Department of Public Safety and Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau are urging you to have a safe ride home. Before going out to celebrate, have a designated driver or find an alternative ride home. And remember, to always wear your seat belt.
