The Riverside City Council held a work session Monday night to discuss ongoing projects, including installing solar energy panels. The special meeting was scheduled to get additional feedback from the council and the public on the solar energy project which was on the last meeting’s agenda. Mayor Allen Schneider gave an update on potential projects, including one with the town’s main electrical energy provider Alliant. Schneider says the deadline to get projects applied for with Alliant is the end of April, so the council has decided to table that project because council wasn’t quite ready.
Solar energy use at the water and wastewater plants in Riverside is still a potential endeavor, as Schneider says, “I would expect that we’ll have more discussions about that in the next month or two, and hopefully get a project off the ground. We’ve got at least three different companies right now who are submitting proposals and we’ll take a look at those and make a decision.”
The next Riverside City Council meeting is May 1.
