The solid start for the Savage softball team has landed them in the latest IGHSAU rankings at No. 13 in the state for class 1A.

Being one win from the state tournament each of the last two years, the Savages look poised for another deep playoff run. Offensively, Sigourney has weapons from all around as they have five players who are in the top 12 batting averages in the South Iowa Cedar League. Autum Barthelman leads that group with an impressive .515 BA and 10 RBI. Senior Kendall Streigle has been the catalyst in the circle with a 3.19 ERA in 87 innings of work. The Savages will be in the mix for a SICL championship as they are currently third in the 12-team league.

Long-term success is on the horizon for the Savages as Streigle is the lone senior on the young and talented group. The Savages get back on the diamond tomorrow when they travel to Belle Plaine.
