The Iowa Mennonite School baseball and softball teams are back on the diamond tonight within the Southeast Iowa Superconference when they travel to Van Buren.
The IMS boys stand at 10-8 on the year after a 15-0 Senior Night win over Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday in Kalona. Eight of the nine IMS batters in the order scored runs in the contest and seven of the nine recorded hits in the victory over the Wolves. On the season, IMS is led by Drake Brezina hitting .422. He is also the ace on the hill with a 2-2 overall record, 26 innings of work and a 2.42 ERA.
Van Buren comes into the night with an overall record of 8-16. In their last game they were beaten 4-1 at New London. On the season the Warriors are led by Greg Wenke and his .339 average. On the mound Jaxon Thomas has 21 innings of work with a 1-3 record and 3.61 ERA.
The IMS softball team comes into the night with an overall record of 6-9. In their last game they beat Winfield-Mt. Union 2-1 on a Mia Graber walk off home run. On the year IMS is led by Avery Blauvelt and her .500 average. In the circle Hannah Harris has worked 92 innings with a 4.40 ERA and 6-9 overall record.
Van Buren enters tonight with an 8-18 overall record. The Warriors were last in action Tuesday when they fell 8-2 at New London. On the year Van Buren is led by Lauren Starnes with a .380 average at the plate. In the circle it’s Shayna Sprinkle with 87 innings of work and 3.67 ERA. The sophomore has a 5-11 overall record.
