Two teams that are still battling for a Southeast Conference title in Washington and Mount Pleasant clash tonight for a baseball doubleheader.
The familiar opponents met up earlier in the month in an odd doubleheader where both teams won by 10 runs for the split. Washington (15-8) has found their stride as of late, winning four of their last five contests. Ryan Loy continues to be a solid senior for the Demons, leading the team with a .441 BA and 16 RBI. Collin Zear has been effective on the bump with a 2.46 ERA in 31 innings of work.
Mount Pleasant (19-12) is riding high as well coming off doubleheader wins against West Burlington where they won by a combined score of 27-0 in the two games. Pat Canby leads the Panther offense with a .539 BA with 28 RBI. Zach Beason has looked good on the mound with a 1.30 ERA in 27 innings of work.
Game one of the conference matchup gets started at 5:30 p.m. tonight at Mount Pleasant High School. Tune into KCII to listen to the broadcast starting at 5 p.m. for the Washington HyVee pregame show.
