The Wildcat Car Show will be clawing its way to downtown Wellman this Sunday.
This is the first year of the car show, as organizer Tracy Fisher explains, “Years ago there used to be a club that used to have a car show here in Wellman right before the 4th of July, and they quit having it. I have a collection of cars and there’s some local guys that’s always talking to me wishing we had a car show again in Wellman. So it’s just an idea that I pondered for a couple years and this year I decided to start off and have a car show.”
The proceeds of the car show will go towards the Prairie Power Relay for Life team. Fisher says he approached the team because of his personal connection with those who have had cancer. Fisher predicts how future car shows could affect the community, “Originally when I’ve been thinking about for the past several years to have a car show and then the proceeds would go to a different club, and change that out from year to year. Give it to one club one year and then another club another year and pass the money around in the local area for different clubs and committees.”
The Wildcat Car Show goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on Main Street in Wellman. The registration fee is $15, with all the proceeds going to Relay for Life Team Prairie Power.
