With a first place finish in the conference and a state qualifying year the Sigourney softball team was rewarded with seven players being named to the South Iowa Cedar League All Conference teams.
Kendall Streigle and Autum Barthelman highlighted the action being named to the first team. As a pitcher, Streigle carried much of the load racking up a 3.18 ERA in 160 innings. At the plate she managed a .326 batting average and knocked in 13 runs on the year. Barthelman was one of the most versatile players in the state. In the lead off position she hit her way to a .480 batting average and 21 RBI. Her track speed came in handy as she stole a conference leading 43 bases on the year.
A trio of Savages received second team honors. In her junior campaign Leah Carter was a reliable catcher behind the plate and had a .304 batting average with 17 RBI. Summer Barthelman was right behind her sister, batting .450 with 32 runs batted in. Brooke Waechter led the team with 42 RBI and covered a lot of ground in centerfield.
Madi Schauf and Megan Stuhr rounded out the awards with honorable mentions. Schauf showed some power in the cleanup spot with four home runs on the year and batted .415. Megan Stuhr put together a solid freshman season with a .419 batting average and brought home 23 runs.
Sigourney finished the year 23-13 with a fourth place finish at state, and only lose Streigle to graduation.
