The season may be over for the Sigourney softball team but postseason awards keep piling on for the state-qualifying team as they managed three players to be named to the class 1A All-State teams.

Autum Barthelman received the highest honor being named to the first team. The junior made noise in the state tournament recording multiple hits in each of the three games, including a five-hit game that tied a state record. She finished with a team best .480 batting average and knocked in 21 runs. The speed of Barthelman made her hard to stop as she racked up 43 stolen bases on the year, third in the state.

Kendall Streigle received second team honors. The lone senior was at the core of the team’s success as she pitched 80% of the innings all year for the Savages. She was in the top 10 in ERA for the South Iowa Cedar League with 3.18 and racked up a .326 batting average.

Summer Barthelman rounded out the awards being named honorable mention. Hitting third for the Savages, she managed a .450 batting average and knocked in 32 runs. Defensively, the Barthelman sisters proved to be a great one-two punch in the field as they covered a lot of ground at second and shortstop.
