Several Area teams were in action for the first time in the 2017 cross country season Tuesday at the Iowa Mennonite School early bird.
The Highland girls were fourth of 10 schools with a team score of 139 points. Top finisher for the Huskies was Taylor Sublette in 22nd with a time of 24:47.40. Other finishers for Highland included Zoe Mahler 24th, Madison Thomann 27th, Fiona Mahler 29th, Alli Brand 37th and Katie McFarland 53rd.
The Highland boys were 10th of ten teams with 260 points and were led by Bryan Redlinger in 35th with a time of 20:57.68. Other Highland finishers included Mason Manley 50th, Jacob Roling 64th, Luke VanSchoyck 70th and Levi Schnoebelen 71st.
The Winfield Mt. Union girls were fifth in the 10 team field with a score of 143 points. Top finisher for the Wolves was Pearl Krieger-Coble eighth with a time of 21:39.80. Other finishers for WMU included Cecilia Hemsworth 10th, Farrah Nelson 31st, Isabella Mertens 46th, Whitney Vantiger 50th, and Fionna Sparrow 56th.
The WMU boys were fifth with a score of 161 points. Top finisher for the Wolves was Brody Barton in 14th with a time of 18:13.97. Other finishers for the Wolves included Jarod Kadel 21st, Asa Gipple 40th, Dane Sweezer 45th, Bryant Holtkamp 54th, Kolten Buster 56th, and Nolan Ross 59th.
The Lone Tree girls were sixth out of 10 teams with a score of 146 points. Top finisher for the Lady Lions was Macie Bopp in 16th with her time of 23:29.41. Other finishers for Lone Tree included Sydney Alt 21st, Natalie Patterson 25th, Maddie Jacque 41st, and Emily Feldman 45th.
The Lone Tree boys were eighth of eight schools with a score of 200 points. Top finisher for the Lions was Cale Christofferson in 33rd with a time of 20:55.36. Other finishers for the Lions included Curtis Patterson 38th, Alberto Cortes 44th, Caleb Viers 51st, and Nick Saltzman 52nd.
The Iowa Mennonite girls took 10th of 10 teams with a score of 252 points. Top finish for IMS came from Sarena Gerber in 34th with a time of 25:46.75. Other finishers for IMS included Greta Schrag 51st, Rachel Geyer 52nd, Meredith Blossom 61st, Kennedy Roth 62nd and Ainsley Shaw 63rd.
The Iowa Mennonite boys were ninth of 10 teams with a score of 219 points. The top finish came from Levi Geyer in 17th with a time of 18:45.11. Other IMS finishers included Jacob Boller 43rd, Aaron Hershberger 55th, Micah Miller 60th, Jesse Slater 66th and Gideon Sangare 69th.
