The Washington girls’ basketball season begins tonight when they host Eddyville-Blakesburg.

Experience is the name of the game for the Demons as they only graduated one player from last year’s 5-17 team. Sarah Nacos returns for her senior campaign, as she averaged a team-high 13 points per game a year ago and led the team with 67 steals. Fellow senior Brooke Stout will look to clean up the boards, as she was the leading rebounder a year ago with an average of seven per game. Morgan Brinning is the final senior with significant minutes last year, leading the team in assists with 42 and averaged six points per contest. Other key returners to keep an eye on are junior Isabel Bailey who averaged four points, and Addison Six averaged two points and two boards as a freshman.

The Demons will have to play a clean game, as they go up against a Rockets team that went 16-6 a year ago. Like the Demons, the Rockets bring back some key players including Randie Richmond who averaged 12 points last season. Torie Alexander is a player that can do it all, leading the team in assists with 97, steals with 90, and averaged nine boards per game.

The season gets started at 7:45 p.m. tonight at Washington High School. Tune into KCII starting at 7:15 p.m. to listen to the broadcast.
