The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams are both set for their first meets since the winter warm up tonight.
The Golden Hawk girls make the trip to the City Park in Tipton for the Tiger Relays. Last time the Golden Hawks were in action was March 29th at Mount Pleasant. Mid-Prairie posted a pair of championships with Anna Hostetler winning the 3000 and 1500 at the event. The Mid-Prairie girls will be joined at Tipton by Camanche, Clear Creek Amana, Durant, Easton Valley, Lisbon, Monticello, Mount Pleasant, Mount Vernon, North Cedar, Northeast Goose Lake, Iowa City Regina, Springville, West Liberty and the Tigers.
The Mid-Prairie boys will be at Mount Pleasant tonight. The Hawks were last on the track a week ago at the Demon Co-Ed Meet at Case Field in Washington. Mid-Prairie was the team runner-up and had five event championships with Cary Schaefer winning the 400, Peyton Miller the 400 hurdles, Floyd Evans the 1600, Kyle Miller the high jump and the 4×400 team of Schaefer, Miller, Quinn Schmidt and Grant Boyse taking their event.
Area teams joining the Hawks in Mount Pleasant tonight include the Washington Demons who were last on the track at the Demon Co-Ed meet last week. The Demons were third in the team standings and had several runner-up finishes including the shuttle hurdle team of Mario Tapia, Cade Hennigan, Spencer Sotelo and Lincoln Kleese, the 4×200 team of Jameson Bell, Luke Turner, Trevor Quigley and Ryan Reighard, the 4×100 team of Tapia Tanner Murphy, Sawyer Whisler and Sotelo and Ethan Hunt in the 400.
The Lone Tree Lions will also be in Mount Pleasant tonight. They last ran at the Falcon Relays in West Burlington. Lone Tree had four event titles with Brock Smith winning the 800, Ty Griffin the 400 hurdles, Brady Dauber the long jump and the distance medley team of Alex Viner, Avery Knock, Dauber and Brock Smith were winners.
The WACO Warriors will travel to Mount Pleasant tonight. At the Demon Co-Ed relays last week they were seventh overall with a second place finish from Colton Horak in the 200.
The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves will also be in Mount Pleasant Thursday. Brandon Snowden won the 100 and 200 for the Wolves at the Demon Co-Ed Relays last week.
Joining these area teams in Mount Pleasant Thursday are Cardinal, Centerville, Central Lee, Clear Creek Amana, Danville, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City Liberty, Keokuk, Louisa-Muscatine, Marion, Mediapolis, New London, Pekin Van Buren, Wapello, West Burlington Notre Dame and the Panthers.
Both the Tipton and Mount Pleasant meets start at 4:30 this afternoon and continue into the evening.
