The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team is back on the court Thursday after a week off to take on the rival Regina Regals.
Last time out Mid-Prairie was swept by the Durant Wildcats on the road a week ago. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Myah Lugar with 33 kills. Caitlyn Riggan has the team lead with 83 assists. Cassidy Hershberger leads the Golden Hawk defense with 59 digs.
Iowa City Regina comes into the match with an overall record of 4-6. Last time out the Regals went 2-3 over the weekend at the Mount Vernon tournament with wins over Ottumwa and HLV and losses to Dyersville-Beckman, Waverly-Shell Rock and Tipton. For the year the Regals are led by Jaedynn Evans with 75 kills, sixth most in the River Valley Conference. Evans also leads the Regal defense with 130 digs, second most in the conference. Kennedy Wallace leads Regina and is fourth in the conference with 135 assists.
These two teams met a year ago in Iowa City with Regina scoring a sweep. Action begins tonight at 7:15p.m. at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
