Nearly 200 people came out to the Washington Farmers’ Market to judge the best locally made salsa in the 19th Annual Tasters Choice Salsa Contest.

There were 191 ballots cast for the best mild, medium, and spicy salsa categories, and the winners were announced at Thursday’s farmers’ market. The mild winner was tied with 47 votes each for Brad Alderton’s “Evergreen” entry and Jaron Rosien’s “Iowa Sweet Corn” salsa. Rosien also won the medium category with his “Cadillac Classic” receiving 61 votes, and Corey Evans took the spicy award with 60 votes for his entry titled “Extra Hot:Caution.” Rosien took the Tasters Choice award with his salsa “Cadillac Classic.” The Washington Farmers’ Market takes place at the central square park in downtown Washington from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursdays through October 18th.
