The Highland and Lone Tree girls’ basketball teams squared off in Riverside last night in a battle of KCII-area teams, with the Huskies taking the W 63-47.
The Huskies got out to a good start, outscoring Lone Tree 17-8 in the first period. The Lions won the second quarter 18-17, but were still down 32-27 at the half. The Huskies would outscore the Lions 29-20 in the second half to take the 16-point victory.
Four of the five Highland starters finished with double-figures in the scoring column. Abbie Miller led the way with 20, Aly Stokes and Alyssa Brase each had 13, and Kylie Wood finished with 11. Those four alone outscored Lone Tree by 10.
Both of these two teams will be back in action next week. The Lions will play another KCII-area matchup on Monday against Keota, and Highland will stay at home to take on Louisa-Muscatine.
