The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team opened the new year with a road win Tuesday at Durant 69-49.
Things were tight through the first half with the game tied at 13 after the first eight minutes and the Hawks holding a slim 28-27 lead at the break. Out of the locker room, Mid-Prairie put their adjustments to work and outscored Durant 22-7 in the third quarter to gain separation and traded baskets with the Wildcats down the stretch to secure the win. Myah Lugar led the way for Mid-Prairie with 23 points and eight boards. Maddie Nonnenmann finished with 16 points and Ella Cadena had nine off the bench. With the win, Mid-Prairie is now 1-0 on the year and travels to West Liberty Tuesday.
