It’s an all-KCII area showdown Tuesday night at Hillcrest Union in Kalona when Iowa Mennonite hosts Columbus in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader.

The IMS girls come into the game with an overall record of 4-5. Last time out they knocked off Winfield-Mt. Union 61-39 behind 36 points from Suzanna Yoder and a double double from Yani Gutierrez. For the season IMS is led by Yoder scoring 28 points per game, best in the state regardless of class. Yoder also has the team lead with 42 assists, that’s best in the Superconference and second in class 1A. Yani Gutierrez leads IMS on the glass with 73 rebounds fifth in the Superconference.

Columbus comes in with an overall record of 0-7. Last time out they lost to Highland 57-24 behind 10 points from Anna Hamilton. On the year, Columbus is led by Hamilton scoring seven points per game. She also leads the Wildcats with eight assists and paces Columbus on the glass with 32 rebounds. These two teams split their meetings a season ago with the Wildcats winning 32-23 on their home court but falling in Kalona 49-39.

The IMS boys come into the contest with an overall record of 4-2 after a 57-34 win over Winfield-Mt. Union Friday, led by 13 points from Jeremy Niemeyer and 11 from Eli Ours. On the season, IMS is led by Niemeyer and Ours each scoring 13 per game, 10th most in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Caleb Gingerich leads IMS and is third in the Superconference with 35 assists while Niemeyer has the team lead and is sixth in the conference with 48 boards.

Columbus enters play with an overall mark of 1-5. Friday they fell to Highland 71-45 despite 26 points from Eric Valdez. On the season the Wildcats are led by Valdez at 18 points per game sixth best in the Superconference. He also has the team lead with 16 assists. Evan Reese leads the Wildcats with 32 rebounds. These two teams met twice a season ago with IMS sweeping the series 71-42 in Columbus and 51-31 in Kalona.
