The WACO basketball teams hosted Burlington Notre Dame for a doubleheader on Thursday night, with the girls dropping their game and the boys picking up the win.

The girls’ game was first, with the Nikes taking it 47-26.  No Warrior scorer broke double-figures, as Clara Schmitz led the way with nine points.  Five of her nine points came from the free throw line, tying or outscoring all other WACO players in general with her free throws alone.

The boys’ game was a completely different story, as it was a thrilling, double-overtime contest that ended in a Warrior victory, 68-66.  Notre Dame actually led by six at the half, but it was as tight as they come after that.  Nik Coble led the way for the Warriors with a career-high 28 points and tied a career high in rebounds with 21.  Drew Kissell also finished in double-figures, scoring 15.

Thursday’s outcome drops the girls to 4-7 and improves the boys to 7-3 on the season.  Both Warrior basketball teams will return to action on January 4 in a doubleheader at home against Van Buren.
