Property owners in the city of Washington are reminded that they are responsible for clearing their sidewalks of snow and ice. Per the city’s ordinance, snow and ice should be cleared from public sidewalks within 24 hours after the snow has ceased or ice has formed. It is also unlawful to remove snow or ice and then put it in a public street, right of way, alley, or sidewalk. If it is not removed, the city may do so and levy that cost of the work against the property.
