ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS
EVENING…
…Another Winter Storm with Mixed Precipitation…
.A winter storm will move through the area today bringing freezing
precipitation, sleet and snow to the area. Areas west of the
Mississippi and north of Highway 30 in Illinois have the best
chances of seeing mixed precipitation. The heaviest sleet and
freezing precipitation is expected to occur this morning.
Ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch are expected.
Sleet may add an additional tenth or two of accumulation.
Additionally, accumulating snow of 1 to 2 inches will be seen
west of a line from Dubuque to Sigourney in Iowa.
Winds will be on the increase this afternoon with gusts up to 40
mph possible.
* WHAT…Significant icing. Total ice accumulations around one
quarter inch. Sleet accumulations of one or two tenths. Winds
gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM CST this evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
commute.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
An Ice Storm Warning means significant amounts of ice
accumulation will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is
strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. Snapped power lines and falling tree branches are also
possible.
