While many will be celebrating Valentine’s Day Thursday, the best wrestlers in the state will be competing at the first day of the 2019 Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament. Thursday the three-day tournament kicks off with Class 3A competition, followed by Class 1A and then 2A. Fourteen area wrestlers will be on the mat Wednesday including five from Washington: Walker Ikerd (120), Garrett Ikerd (138), Dillan Sanders (145), Tristin Westphal-Edwards (182), and Logan Escher (195). Also competing are Mid-Prairie’s Isaach Boucher (195), Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union’s Jarod Kadel (138); Highland’s Geoff Streb (132), Brady Hahn (145), Cory Stewart (152), and Dan Burton (160); Sigourney-Keota’s Mason Dye (113); and WACO’s Jonah Clark (120) and Jalen Collins (126).
