The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in the KCII-listening area continues until midnight Sunday. The NWS advises there will be additional accumulating snow and freezing drizzle through the evening. Total accumulations of 3 to 7 inches are expected, with the higher amounts focusing near the Highway 30 and Highway 20 corridors in eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Lower accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected across northeast Missouri, far southeast Iowa and west central Illinois where freezing drizzle and a light glazing of ice is expected. The NWS reminds people to be prepared for snow covered and slick travel conditions through this evening.
The Winter Weather Advisory includes Washington, Louisa, Keokuk, Henry, Jefferson, Iowa, and Johnson Counties.
Snow accumulations in Washington reached 3.5 inches by 10 a.m., and Columbus Junction had 1.5 inches by 8 a.m. Iowa City had nearly four inches and North English had just over four inches of snow.
