An update on the Wellness Park was presented to the Washington City Council. The council approved an amendment to the agreement with MSA Professional Services to raise their total fee to $163,500 for the added work that has come up. City Administrator Brent Hinson explained that as the project has been moving forward the scope of the work has increased, “It’s changed a lot, we’ve had to roll with the punches, kind of continue getting a better and better project and MSA has been there every step with us. But it has taken a lot more of their time, and you’re talking, you know originally it’s a $1.5 million project with one competitive bid cycle and now it’s a $2.6 million project with three competitive bid cycles, that’s different in terms of the scope that the engineer has to work with.” The original agreement lump sum amount was $90,000, with a lump sum fee of $38,000 for the Phase 1A additional services, and $35,500 for the estimated fee for the Phase 1B-1C design and bidding. Phase 1A is grading and utilities, 1B is concessions and restrooms buildings, 1C is field, trail and street development.
