The Iowa Mennonite School Choir will be kicking off their church tour this weekend. The group of 25 students will be traveling around the Kalona-Iowa City area to perform at churches. Music Instructor Mike Wagner says this is a great way for the students to practice performing in front of an audience as they prepare for the Mennonite School Choral Festival in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in April.
Wagner adds that the weather has thrown a wrench into their preparation, but overall there is a lot of anticipation, “I think the kids are, at this point, just excited to get going, and that’s kind of where I’m at. I’ve been talking about the tour since last semester and I just kind of want to get started.”
The IMS touring choir will be performing seven times over the next seven Sundays. They will be at the West Union Mennonite Church at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday..
