The Keota girls’ basketball team recently capped off what was one of the best seasons the program has had in recent memory. Their 10 wins were more than they’ve had the last three seasons put together, and there were three players in particular that stood out in making that possible.
Senior Addison Sprouse headlined the Eagles’ season this year, putting up a team-high 12.7 points per game and breaking the all-time Keota record for points scored in a career. As a result, she earned herself a spot on the South Iowa Cedar League’s second all-conference team.
Two more Eagles received honorable mentions in the form of Jill Schulte and Paige Thompson, both seniors. Thompson was the team’s top rebounder and shot blocker on top of putting up 10.1 points per game. Schulte was a great facilitator and defender, putting up a team-high 36 assists and finishing just outside the top 10 in the conference in steals with 44.
The three all-conference players will all graduate this this spring, along with Briana Duwa. With their departure, the remaining seven players will be back a year from now.
