Highland senior Aly Stokes had a fantastic final season.  Her versatility across the floor paid off in droves for her team, and secured her a spot on the third all-state team.

Stokes finished the year at ninth in the state in total rebounds, second in blocked shots, and was a top-20 scorer in Class 2A.  Those numbers were more than enough to earn her a spot on the all-state team, but head coach Jody Fink knows, as does Stokes, that she couldn’t have done it alone.

“You’ve gotta have good teammates, and I think she had some of the best teammates.  You can’t do that stuff without teammates,” Fink said.  “They have to help you do that.  Whether it be boxing out and making sure their players aren’t getting the rebound so that she’s able to, or being able to give her the ball back on a cut; all aspects.  You need a team to be able to accomplish that, and I think she’s glad for the teammates that she had.”

Stokes finishes her career in the Highland record books at third in both scoring and rebounds and first in blocked shots, and is one of very few players in the state’s history to end a career with 1,000+ points and 1,000+ rebounds.
