A man was injured in a wreck after a semi truck tried to enter a highway through an exit ramp. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at 6:04 a.m. Friday they received a call reporting a semi truck traveling the wrong way on Highway 34 on exit 229 near Westwood. The driver of the truck was 39-year-old Steve Helgen of Fredericksburg. An eastbound vehicle being driven by 26-year-old Nicholas Hill of Rome collided with the trailer of Helgen’s truck. Hill had to be transported to the Henry County Health Center.

Helgen was given citations for violating one-way traffic designation, unsafe backing on highway, and failure to obey traffic control device. Hill was also given a court summons for driving under suspension. Agencies assisting with the wreck were Mount Pleasant Fire, Henry County Paramedics, and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
