A nurse from Riverside was named one of Iowa’s 100 great nurses of 2019. Janis Tener was given the honor after serving in several nursing positions at the University of Iowa Hospital over the last 42 years. Tener says she was thrilled when she found out the news, “I felt very honored and excited, it’s a great honor to be nominated and selected as one of the great nurses in Iowa. So I feel like it’s a great privilege and honor.”
She currently serves as the nurse manager of the dialysis program at the University of Iowa Hospital. Tener told KCII News that awards are great, but her real goal is to be able to help people, “I take pride in just being able to help other people, and getting to know the patients and getting to know their story, and helping them through a challenging time to get back to the best possible home life they can have”
Tener and the other great nurses of Iowa will be honored at a celebration in Des Moines on May 5th.
