After 17 years in Fairfield, a business is moving to Washington. Midwest Tree Service and the Washington City Council have agreed on a purchase price for a lot in the business park. Realtor Tim Elliott said the company will construct a building that is 60×156 feet, “It’s a substantial investment from Midwest Tree Service to relocate a business from another area to a more centralized area which is Washington.” The list price for the 3.15-acre lot was $100,000. The development agreement is for $77,500 and a forbearance that the company will complete all of the necessary concrete within three years to develop the parcel. The company is moving to be more centrally located as they do more work in Washington, Iowa City and farther north. Midwest Tree Service has been one of the contractors hired by the city to remove ash trees due to the emerald ash borer.
