A child was taken to the hospital after being found in the middle of a Riverside street. According to the Washington County Communications Office, a two-year-old with no clothing on and no adults around was found in the roadway near the intersection of 115th Street and Vine Avenue on the east side of Riverside Tuesday afternoon. The person who called dispatch took the child inside for warmth until authorities arrived.

Washington County Sheriff’s personnel assisted and called for medical personnel to evaluate the child. Riverside QRS and Washington County Ambulance responded and the ambulance took the child to the University of Iowa Hospital.

The sheriff’s office contacted the Department of Human Services and a report was filed. The case remains under investigation according to Washington County Sheriff Jared Schneider. Names of those involved were not released.
