After a handful of athletes competed in an indoor meet at Iowa State last week, the Washington girls’ track and field team is finally taking things outdoors for their first full meet of the year.

The Demons will travel to West Burlington for this meet, going up against runners, jumpers and throwers from conference rivals Fairfield, Keokuk and Mount Pleasant, KCII-area schools WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union and other Superconference schools.  Head coach Stefanie Haworth says she’s treating tonight’s meet as a way to get everyone as involved as possible.

“Everyone will be doing quite a few events,” Haworth said.  “I want to change things up and let some kids who, last year, ran quite a few relays- I want to see them in some opens, because they’ll probably be in relays as the season goes on.”

Tonight’s meet at West Burlington High School is scheduled for 4:30.
